After adding Kevin Durant to their lineup last summer, the Golden State Warriors had a quick turnaround from being the “darlings” of the league to the NBA's villains.

Fan opinions varied as some took it as a weak move from the 2014 MVP as he joined forces with the team that eliminated his then-squad, the Oklahoma City Thunder, in the previous season, while others saw it as an opportunity he couldn't pass on as it gives him the best chance of winning a championship.

The developments over the summer only strengthened the hype of seeing this “super team” make their debut this season. And on Tuesday night, the wait was finally over as the Warriors kicked off their campaign when they hosted the team considered by many as an “almost” equally strong contender in the San Antonio Spurs.

Steve Kerr‘s team did not appear to be close to the form they had last season at all when they won 73 games, as they were blown out of their own building and lost by 29 points to the Spurs, 129-100.

As expected, fans had a field day on social media and trolled the Warriors after losing on opening day.

For those with legitimate panic over the loss, save yourself from the stress. It's very premature and it's crazy to think that the Warriors are going to do anything drastic.

Durant even top-scored for his team and appeared to play on the level he was at prior to switching teams. With an experienced coach and four All-Stars on their lineup, it will not be a surprise if they bounce back from this loss and start stringing some wins together soon.
