The Golden State Warriors weren't America's favorite team in the NBA Finals, especially with the antics of Draymond Green, and it's not about to change now.

Kevin Durant joining the team in this summer's free agency has all but guaranteed that the Warriors will be the most hated team next season, entering the 2016-17 season as the team to beat as well as the villain (outside of the Bay Area).

There will be plenty of opposition and haters waiting in the wings for the Warriors to fail, but guard Klay Thompson isn't backing down from the animosity that is and will continue to be thrown at them

Thompson told The Vertical's Shams Charania:

“The NBA season can get mundane; 82 games are so long and there can be some boredom. Now, we can embrace being the hated team and getting everyone’s best, and adding some tension every night. It’ll be a fun experience going into arenas on the road, with opposing fans hating what we’ve built.”

The Warriors are favored to win the NBA title after losing in the 2016 NBA Finals by just a few points in Game 7, thanks in part to the addition of Durant.

Although Thompson is focused on winning a gold medal in the Rio Olympics, he is already eyeing the upcoming battles during the long NBA season. Favorites or not, teams will be gunning for the Warriors, and they will have to prove they are the best team once more with every opponent giving them their best effort.
