It was an epic battle between two title contenders in the Western Conference. The Golden State Warriors and the Memphis Grizzlies clashed for the first time in their second-round series on Sunday. It came down to the wire, and the biggest shot of the night was made by Warriors star Klay Thompson.
Shortly after making a 3-pointer that gave the Warriors a one-point lead, Thompson had an opportunity to add two more points at the foul line with 6.7 seconds left in the game. He missed both, giving the Grizzlies a chance to steal the win. Luckily for the Warriors, Ja Morant missed in the final shot attempt.
“I've learned in life you can't go back, and I did miss those free throws,” Thompson told ClutchPoints. “I was very disappointed in myself. But I quickly forgot about them and realized we have a chance to win this game in four seconds.”
Klay Thompson: “I've learned in life you can't go back, and I did miss those free throws. I was very disappointed in myself. But I quickly forgot about them and realized we have a chance to win this game in four seconds. It sucks, but we won, and that's all that really matters.”

The Grizzlies called a play for Morant, and he was guarded by Gary Payton II. The Grizzlies inbounded the ball and their explosive guard got a step on Payton which forced Thompson to leave his man to help. Morant attempted a difficult layup over the two Warriors for the win and missed.
The Warriors secured the win, but those two missed free throws were still on Thompson’s mind.
“It sucks, but we won, and that's all that really matters,” Thompson said.
He finished the game with 15 points and made the game-winning basket, but if you ask him, he probably would say 17 points sound better than 15. Game 1 was a thriller. You can expect the same from these teams in Game 2.
