The Golden State Warriors trailed for most of Game 1 of the NBA Finals against the Toronto Raptors, ultimately taking a 118-109 defeat. Warriors star Draymond Green accepted blame for the loss, admitting he was playing on his heels and not being aggressive enough:
draymond again takes the blame for G1: “if i’m on my heels, everyone else is on their heels, and i think that was the story of last night.”

Green did record a third straight double-double with 10 points, 10 rebounds and 10 assists, but he shot just 2-of-9 from the field and didn't make his normal impact on the defensive end. He had just one steal and didn't record a block while also committing five fouls.
Meanwhile, Green's counterpart, Pascal Siakam, took it to the Warriors all game long. In his NBA Finals debut, Siakam went off for 32 points on 14-of-17 shooting, while also adding eight rebounds, five assists, two blocks and a steal.
Article Continues BelowGreen had plenty of praise for Siakam after the game, and the Warriors star also admitted they weren't ready for the Raptors' team speed. Siakam played a key role in that, pushing the ball in transition as Toronto racked up 24 fast-break points.
Given his comments and what's at stake in general, expect a motivated Draymond Green in Game 2. Golden State knows how important it is not to fall into a hole heading to Oracle Arena, so the overall effort should be much better.
Game 2 is on Sunday night in Toronto.
