DeMarcus Cousins' signing with the Golden State Warriors raised a lot of questions before the season began. He was recovering from a torn Achilles injury which he suffered while playing for the New Orleans Pelicans last year, and the Dubs initially thought he won't be able to play until May.
However, Cousins' recovery went faster than expected and he made his much-anticipated debut for the Warriors on Jan. 19, when they faced the L.A. Clippers.
He has now played in four games; and while there's definitely some signs of rust, Cousins seems to be working well with the Dubs so far. He's been able to put up 13.5 points on 46 percent shooting and seven rebounds per game. He's also played at least 20 minutes in three of those four games, which goes to show how much trust Golden State is giving him in his return from injury.
While Cousins seems to downplay how impressive his return has been, he's also admitted that he didn't expect his chemistry with the rest of the Warriors' players to be this good, according to Mark Medina of The Mercury.

I just think it’s a good situation. I’m not saying it’s perfect. But it’s working out a lot smoother and easier than a lot of people expected.”
But Cousins reiterated that he's not playing to prove anything to anyone.
“I’m not really out there to prove or show off individual accolades. I’m going out there trying make the right plays and play team basketball and winning basketball. I’m coming in with that team mindset and trying to work my way up.”
In his nine seasons in the league, Cousins has had his fair share of criticisms. He's had nothing but trouble with the Sacramento Kings' front office, which eventually led to him being traded to the Pelicans where he suffered the torn Achilles. Teams were then reluctant to offer him a contract while recovering.
Despite all those issues, Cousins is still out here, playing basketball for a franchise who was willing to take a risk by bringing him in.
Now, he's loving the opportunity and is repaying the Warriors in every possible way he can.
