Golden State Warriors center DeMarcus Cousins underwent an MRI on his sore right ankle on Monday, and the results came back clean.

Cousins won't play on Monday against the San Antonio Spurs:

DeMarcus Cousins exited Saturday's game against the Oklahoma City Thunder due to the sore ankle and did not return. Boogie finished with 12 points, eight rebounds and six assists in the Warriors' win.

The MRI was just a precaution. Cousins will likely sit out Tuesday's game versus the Minnesota Timberwolves as well. Andrew Bogut has joined the Warriors, so head coach Steve Kerr can rest Boogie as long as he needs to.

In 21 games this season for Golden State, Cousins is averaging 15.6 points, 7.9 rebounds and 3.6 assists per contest. The four-time All-Star is shooting 46.6 percent from the field, 24.6 percent from beyond the arc and 77.7 percent from the free-throw line.

The Warriors have the best record in the Western Conference at 47-21. The team can play it safe with Cousins since they have four other All-Stars on the team in Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson, Kevin Durant and Draymond Green.

Cousins will play in his first postseason this year with Golden State. He becomes a free agent in the summer.
