Golden State Warriors forward Draymond Green has officially signed with a new representation agency in Klutch Sports, a company owned and headline by Rich Paul, the longtime friend and agent representing LeBron James, according to Marc J. Spears of The Undefeated.
The forward's move to Klutch was rumored earlier this year, shortly after the Anthony Davis trade saga went viral, a sign that the once-small agency is picking up big-time clientele and rapidly gaining ground in the NBA spectrum.
“Klutch is a cutting-edge company, it's a pure environment, and I've grown to know Rich over the years,” said Green. “We've become very close. When you really take a step back and actually study what is going on, he checks every box that a player would want in an agent. So, why not? Some are afraid of what people will think or what will be said. That's not the case for me.”
The 29-year-old forward is in the midst of a down year, posting averages of 7.0 points, 7.5 rebounds, 7.1 assists, 1.5 steals and 1.0 blocks in 31.2 minutes per game this season. Green, a seven-year veteran, is in the fourth year of a five-year, $82 million contract he originally signed in 2015.
The Warriors forward said he has called his former agent, B.J. Armstrong, to thank him and offer appreciation for the previous four-and-a-half years of service.
Green added that the change is “about me” and what he prefers to “be aligned with moving forward.” Paul has already gathered a royal line of clientele — ranging from his initial client in James, Davis (who signed with Klutch earlier this season) and second-year forward Ben Simmons. Among his other clients are John Wall, Tristan Thompson, Eric Bledsoe, Marcus and Markieff Morris.
