The Golden State Warriors are hoping that the injury to DeMarcus Cousins is not that serious. However, according to Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN, there are “significant concerns” that the big man has a torn left quad.

Cousins suffered the injury early in the first quarter of Game 2 against the Los Angeles Clippers. As he tried to save the ball, he instead fell and slid on the floor. He managed to get up by his own, but he was unable to continue and limped off the floor to the locker room together with some of the Warriors staff.

The 28-year-old was initially diagnosed with a left quad injury. Nonetheless, he is scheduled to undergo an MRI on Tuesday to determine the extent of the issue.

DeMarcus Cousins has only played in 30 regular season games for the Warriors this year after missing the first half of the campaign recovering from the Achilles tear he sustained last season. He averaged 16.3 points, 8.2 rebounds and 3.6 assists per contest this 2018-19, all while shooting 48.0 percent from the field and 73.6 percent from the free-throw line.

The four-time All-Star is playing in his first career playoff series, and while he struggled in Game 1, there were high hopes that he'd be able to find his rhythm and deliver for the Dubs.

Many expect Cousins to leave the Warriors after this year, especially if he wins a ring with the team. With that said, having a potentially dangerous injury won't help him and his cause.
