Kevin Durant is one of the best players in the NBA, and he has helped the Golden State Warriors become a legitimate dynasty.

Although the Warriors are still Stephen Curry's team, Durant is the unstoppable weapon that helped them become virtually unbeatable. But many of Durant's harshest critics will never give him the credit he deserves because he chose to sign with the Warriors.

Team owner Joe Lacob believes KD has earned the right to do whatever he wants regarding free agency.

“He loves being a part of our organization and being a part of the Bay Area,” Lacob said of Durant to Mark Medina of the Bay Area News Group. “He’s earned the right to be a free agent or do whatever he wants in terms of contract status. I would let it play out and see what happens. I’m not too worried about it.”

From a competitive standpoint, it's hard to accept Durant's decision to sign with the Warriors. His team had just lost to Golden State in a grueling seven-game Western Conference Finals. He was joining a juggernaut already.

But from a business perspective — and the NBA is a business — it was an excellent move. He knew he would win championships and play some of the best basketball of his career. Additionally, when he finally decides to leave the Warriors, he will cash in on a huge contract while still in his prime.

Durant is one of the most hated players in the NBA, but he has earned the right to do whatever he wants in the offseason.
