The news of Anthony Davis' trade request quickly made waves around the NBA, with Kevin Durant of the Golden State Warriors being just one of many to hear of the shocking news ahead of Monday's shootaround.

Durant admitted the news were a topic of conversation, as it's something not nearly as serious as other hard-hitting news that affect every day life.

“AD wants to play basketball somewhere else. It's not like the president shutting down the government,” said Durant. “It's just basketball, so of course we talk about it. We all as players want guys to do exactly what they want to do in this league. We have a short amount of time, so why not do what you want?”

Durant would be one of the biggest proponents of player power, as he was a player who turned down a top-dollar immediate return to join a championship contender, just like Davis is looking to do.

Davis' timing is different, as he warned the organization before the end of the year so that preparations could be made, yet giving the New Orleans Pelicans short of two weeks to find a suitable trade doesn't count for very much in terms of time.

His agent made the news public on Monday, giving the Los Angeles Lakers a small window of opportunity and a slight edge over the Boston Celtics to get a deal done before Feb. 7 hits, as the latter cannot trade for Davis ahead of July 1 due to the “Rose Rule.”

The Warriors could make a play for Anthony Davis, but it would have to wait until the offseason and likely include some major reshuffling, making it a very unlikely route.
