Golden State Warriors All-Star shooting guard Klay Thompson admits he wanted to make an All-NBA team “so badly.”
By not making an All-NBA team this season, Thompson was made ineligible to sign a supermax contract with the Warriors this summer — costing him roughly $30 million.
Thompson, however, says he's not upset about the money aspect of getting snubbed.
“The money's nice, but I'm just trying to build a résumé,” Thompson said on ESPN's The Jump on Wednesday. “And I see some other guys who played my position growing up, you know, the Ray Allens, Reggie Miller, Chris Mullin — I try to be in that mold. They made, you know, three, four All-NBA teams — I'm trying to get to that level. And it didn't happen this year, but hopefully, go to another Finals next year and it might happen then.
“But I just wanted to make that team so badly just because it's a huge honor thing, you know. Being recognized as a top-15 player in the best basketball league in the world, that's amazing. But like I said before, the opportunity to win a championship is greater.”

Thompson is one of the best players in the NBA, so it's a shame he didn't make an All-NBA team. However, like Klay says, he's looking forward to winning his fourth championship with the Warriors now.
During the regular season, Thompson averaged 21.5 points, 3.8 rebounds and 2.4 assists. The five-time All-Star shot 46.7 percent from the field, 40.2 percent from beyond the arc and 81.6 percent from the free-throw line.
All signs point toward the Warriors re-signing Thompson this summer in free agency.
