On Saturday night, Klay Thompson looked like the Klay Thompson of old. The Golden State Warriors shooting guard dealt the Milwaukee Bucks a swift death by jump shots with 38 points to lead all scorers.
The Warriors star made 15-of-24 field goals and sank eight threes-pointers in what felt like a textbook eruption from the younger Splash Brother.
But prior to the Bucks game, Klay Thompson was mired in an ice-cold shooting slump. In the Warriors' last seven games, he'd been averaging just a shade under 15 points per game on an uncharacteristically inefficient 39-for-113 shooting clip, which falls under 35% from the field.
That's why it's no surprise that the Warriors guard was asked about what it felt like to break out of his cold spell and seemingly regain his shooting mojo. But in typical Klay Thompson fashion, he largely shrugged off any worry to begin with.

“Everyone makes a big deal about my shooting, man,” said the Warriors star begrudgingly. “I don't know. I'm not happy with how my shooting went. But I know these nights are within me. Like I just know. I've just been in this league for so long and done too many great things that a lot of players haven't done before to doubt myself so I was eager for a night like this but a midseason shooting slump? It's not gonna kill my ego. I'm still going to go out there and compete.”
Klay Thompson has far too wide a resume and far too large a sample size to let a random blip in the schedule dictate how well he'll be playing the rest of the way. Warriors fans have seen him get scorching hot from out of nowhere right in the middle of a game. Missing a few shots along the way is part of the process.
