Golden State Warriors great Klay Thompson isn't competing in the 3-Point Contest this year because he prefers to be a spectator:

The 3-Point Contest, which will be held in Charlotte during All-Star Weekend, is a popular competition where players put their sharpshooting to the test. This is the first time that Thompson won't be participating in the contest in four years; he won the contest in 2016.
But even though Klay Thompson won't be participating in the contest, there are plenty of participants who will be able to entertain the All-Star crowd:

Teammate Stephen Curry will represent the Warriors as their lone participant against a fun field of participants.
Thompson is actually having the worst 3-point shooting season of his career, though he is still at a stellar 38.3 percent and has been coming on strong of late. The sharpshooter buried 47.5 percent of his triples in January and started off February by making four out of seven long-range attempts.
Those who have been following basketball for a while know that Klay Thompson was drafted by the Golden State Warriors with the 11th pick of the 2011 NBA Draft. He and Curry became known as The Splash Brothers when, in 2014, they set a new NBA record (which has since been smashed) with 484 combined 3-pointers in a season. So, it's rather interesting that only one-half of the duo will be appearing in the 3-point competition during All-Star Weekend.
