During the Golden State Warriors' win over the Charlotte Hornets on Monday night, Warriors big man DeMarcus Cousins picked up a technical foul for throwing the shoe of Hornets guard Jeremy Lamb off the court after Lamb lost it.

However, Cousins did not do it out anger or malice; he was merely trying to get the sneaker out of the way to avoid anyone stepping on it, as seen below:

However, the NBA rescinded the technical foul on Tuesday, as the league obviously understood that Cousins was not tossing the shoe out of frustration but for protection:

Cousins was rightfully incredulous when the technical foul was called, as it was blatantly obvious that he did not mean anything bad by getting rid of the shoe.

The sneaker was literally laying right in the middle of the court, and had he (or someone else) not cleared the shoe from the floor, there is a very good chance another player would have stepped on it and either turned an ankle or a knee.

What's worse is that the official was looking right at Cousins when the incident occurred, so it should have seemed clear as day to him what Cousins' objective was.

Thankfully, the technical foul did not have any impact on the game, as the Warriors were leading by 15 points late in the fourth quarter at the time and ended up coming out on top, but the fact that the call was made is pretty unbelievable.

Cousins made his return to the court last month after missing nearly a year of action due a torn Achilles he suffered with the New Orleans Pelicans last season.

Since returning, the 28-year-old is averaging 14.8 points and 7.9 rebounds per game.
