Golden State Warriors head coach Steve Kerr says center DeMarcus Cousins' recovery from a torn left quad is “tricky.”
Cousins suffered the injury in Game 2 of the Warriors' first round matchup against the Los Angeles Clippers. The All-Star big man has been scrimmaging in practice with the non-starters.
Kerr says it takes big guys like Cousins more time to find their rhythm on the floor when they are coming back from an injury.
“DeMarcus is making good progress,” Kerr said, via Mark Medina of the Bay Area News Group. “But the timing of this whole thing is tricky because he misses two months. It always takes big guys’ longer to find their rhythm. The speed of the game is so fast.
“If this were the regular season, this would be simple. Put him back in the starting lineup and give him his minutes and let him work his way back in and find his rhythm and it’d be an easy one. We’re going into Game 1 of the Finals.”

Game 1 of the Finals is on Thursday, May 30, in Toronto. The Warriors are listing Cousins has questionable for Game 1.
Kerr is right, as this is a tough spot for him and Cousins. The Warriors are trying to win their third straight title and fourth ring in five years, but Boogie is expected to be rusty when he comes back. Kerr doesn't have time to experiment lineups with Cousins.
We'll see what Kerr decides to do when the former All-Star big man is cleared to play in a game.
