Golden State Warriors head coach Steve Kerr admits Marquese Chriss has “got more skills as a passer and screener” than he realized.

Chriss, who is on a training camp deal with the Warriors, is trying to make the Warriors' opening-day roster.

Keeping Chriss on the roster would be a low-risk, high-reward move for the Warriors. Golden State would ask Chriss to protect the rim and play with energy when he comes into the game. The Warriors would hope their culture of winning rubs off on Chriss.

As of right now, though, Golden State is dealing with a hard cap and would have to get rid of somebody else in order to give Chriss a guaranteed contract.

Chriss has career averages of 7.6 points and 4.5 rebounds in 197 games with the Phoenix Suns, Houston Rockets and Cleveland Cavaliers while shooting 42.9 percent from the field, 29.6 percent from beyond the arc and 62.8 percent from the free-throw line. He was the eighth overall pick in the 2016 Draft by the Suns.

Chriss played 14 minutes against the Los Angeles Lakers in the Dubs' preseason opener. He finished with eight points, six rebounds and four assists before fouling out.

Chriss followed that up with eight points, 11 rebounds and four assists versus the Minnesota Timberwolves in 25 minutes of action.
