It has been quite the eventful 2020-21 season for Golden State Warriors star Draymond Green. His first month featured some truly ghastly shooting numbers, and many wondered at the time whether he had truly lost it.
However, while Green still isn't scoring all that much (6.9 points per game), that field goal percentage (not his 3-point percentage) has come up to a respectable 44.3% over the course of the season. He was at just 4.8 points per game on 34.9% shooting after January. Meanwhile, he's boasting a career-high 8.8 assists per game and still anchoring a strong defense.
Given all the circumstances surrounding this season compared to past years, Warriors head coach Steve Kerr has a hot take on Green's campaign:
Kerr on Draymond: "I know he's been an All-Star and Defensive player of the year and all that but given our team and Draymond's position with the team and the talent that we've lost over the years, to me this is one of the best seasons of Draymond's career."

That certainly is rather bold, which Kerr even notes. The veteran big man made three All-Star Games in a row during the dynasty run and won Defensive Player of the Year in 2016-17. He was a key part of three championship teams.
Kerr does have a bit of a point, though. The Warriors aren't nearly as talented as they have been in the past, especially with Klay Thompson out. There are way more young players in the rotation as opposed to battle-tested veterans, making Green's job and role that much more important.
With Green and Stephen Curry leading the way, Golden State just clinched a spot in the play-in tournament with its 36-33 record. The Dubs are trying to now make sure they get a spot in the 7-8 game, where just a single win would get them in the playoffs. Of course, that 7-8 matchup is looking like it could be against the Los Angeles Lakers, which would be a whole lot of fun.
Draymond Green is ready for postseason games regardless of the opponent, and Golden State is going to need him at his best if any noise is to be made.
