After the Golden State Warriors won the NBA Title on Friday night, it officially concluded the NBA season which means that head coach Steve Kerr is entering the last year of his deal.
The Warriors front office has already said that one of the top priorities this offseason is to get Kerr an extension and it's a good thing for Kerr because he said he needs it.
“I’m going to need (an extension) because I bought a house in San Francisco and I’m going to have to coach for another 20 years to afford that house,” Kerr said via The Athletic's Anthony Slater.
Kerr just completed his fourth season coaching in the NBA, and he has been in the NBA Finals in every year so far. He joked that he is coming after Phil Jackson's record and if he can keep the Warriors roster intact, there is a chance that he could chase the record.

Kerr also said this is the most difficult season he has been involved with, either as a player or as a coach. Kerr said that this year felt like such a haul, and such a grind, something that the first two didn't seem as much like.
“Yeah, this was the hardest because of the cumulative wear and tear, emotionally more so than physically,” Kerr said. “Just so hard to be ready for an NBA game 100 times a year when, for these guys, 80 of them are relatively meaningless. It wasn’t even the case last year because we had KD and we were trying something totally new. This year just felt like suuuuuuch a haul and suuuuuuch a grind.”
Even with the grind, Kerr was able to keep the team together and win another title, which is why he is in line for another big extension.
