Golden State Warriors head coach Steve Kerr commended DeMarcus Cousins for his Game 2 performance in the NBA Finals against the Toronto Raptors.

After the game, Kerr admitted they thought Cousins could give them a good 20 minutes. But he ended up playing more and giving it everything he has.

“We came in thinking maybe he could give us 20 minutes. He gave us 28…He was fantastic. We needed everything he gave us,” Kerr beamed in his postgame presser, per Anthony Slater of The Athletic.

Cousins — who missed almost the entirety of the Western Conference playoffs due to a quad injury — had 11 points and 10 rebounds in their Game 2 win in Toronto. He also had six assists and two blocks. It's a big upgrade from his Game 1 performance which saw him play only eight minutes and score three points.

All season long, Kerr has talked about syncing Cousins into their system. It's been a tedious task given the injuries that he suffered. Yet, Game 2 is a good sign that Cousins can play heavy minutes on basketball's biggest stage. Not only that, but he can also co-exist well with a bunch of players he has shared the floor for a limited time.

It would be interesting to see how the Raptors will respond in Game 3 given that Cousins has finally found a new rhythm.
