After a lackluster win the other night over the Sacramento Kings, Golden State Warriors head coach Steve Kerr was disappointed.
He said the team was “mentally fried,” possibly looking ahead to the All-Star break while still having some games to play, like the one Friday night against the Denver Nuggets.
The Warriors lost to the Nuggets by seven, but Kerr liked Golden State's effort and energy much better than the Kings game, per Anthony Slater of The Athletic.
Steve Kerr said he liked tonight's loss in Denver much better than the win in Sacramento: "Way better effort than last night. Spirit was right, energy was right, execution was not."

The Warriors don't like losing. They are a competitive bunch with two championships under their belt and are hoping for a third this season.
But after not giving good effort and being mentally out of it in a game, even a win isn't satisfying for the Warriors. They want to build the right habits and be ready for the playoffs, and they can't do that if they allow themselves to be out of games focus-wise.
But Kerr must have done a good job talking them after the Kings game because all he complained about in the loss to the Nuggets was lack of execution, which happens to every NBA team. Kerr is just as competitive as his players and has won titles both as a player and coach. So in terms of focus, he knows what it takes to win consistently at the highest level.
The All-Star break is less than two weeks away, and for the Warriors having gone to three straight Finals, it will be much-needed for them. But once they get back, fans should hope to see a refreshed team ready for the stretch run of the season.
