Draymond Green's career stats may not be eye-popping, but Golden State Warriors head coach Steve Kerr believes he has done enough to be a Hall of Famer.
After Green expressed his desire to be enshrined in the Hall of Fame when his career is over, Kerr backed his forward and even noted that the outspoken Michigan native has already the credentials to get the honor. After all, he is a three-time champion, three-time All-Star and one-time Defensive Player of the Year.
“I think the impact [Wallace] made defensively, helping Detroit win that championship in [2004], Ben became one of the greatest defensive players the league has ever seen. That matters. That leads to wins.” the Warriors coach said, referring to 2021 Hall of Fame Finalist Ben Wallace in defending Green's case (via Kendra Andrews of NBC Sports).
Much like Wallace, Kerr highlighted that while Green may not be scoring like the other superstars in the league who are sure-fire Hall of Famers, his impact to winning is just the same.

True enough, it can be said the Warriors wouldn't be able to win their three championships in the past few years had it not been for Draymond Green. Of course, Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson and Kevin Durant were all crucial, but Green played his role for the Warriors to perfection–providing defense, playmaking, shooting, energy and basically whatever is needed in the situation.
As Green acknowledged, he knows that he still has a lot to accomplish to ensure his place among the greats in the Hall. For Steve Kerr, though, what he has done is more than enough to warrant a consideration.
