Head coach Steve Kerr has his Golden State Warriors in the NBA Finals once again. Winning the Western Conference for the fifth consecutive season, the Dubs impressively managed to defend their West title despite the absence of superstar forward Kevin Durant and former All-Star center DeMarcus Cousins due to injury.
Though the tandem could return for the NBA Finals at some point, Kerr still feels bad for Cousins who has encountered quite the tough stretch over the course of the last few seasons.
“The good news is his body feels good and his quad feels good. He’s working his way back into shape and into rhythm,” Kerr recently told Mark Medina of the The Mercury News. “This is not a simple dynamic for him. I feel bad for him. This is one of the reasons he came to this team was to play in the playoffs and hopefully go to the Finals. Here we are. He’s just coming back with Game 1 just a few games away. It’s not an easy position to be in.”

It still remains to be seen as to when exactly Cousins returns to the fold for the Warriors — if at all.
“There’s all kinds of factors. How’s his conditioning, but what do the matchups look like and what are we trying to accomplish?” Kerr added. “So we’ll continue to assess all of that in the coming days. We’ll decide what we’re going to do by Thursday night.”
This time around, Kerr's Warriors will be taking on the surging Toronto Raptors, a team playing in its first ever NBA Finals.
