The Golden State Warriors are the best team in the NBA with aspirations to win a second consecutive NBA title. But that takes a lot of energy and mental toughness, and head coach Steve Kerr is starting to see some slippage from this team in that regard.
After the team's most recent win, a 119-104 victory over the Sacrament Kings, Kerr said he sees the Warriors are tired, but from a mental standpoint more than anything else, per Tim Bontemps of the Washington Post.
Kerr: “It’s painfully obvious our guys are mentally fried right now. … It’s not physical. Our guys are tired mentally and emotionally.”

Kerr: “Our guys are dying to get to the all-star break.”

After having a shortened training camp and the season starting a week early, teams around the NBA took a while to get into their groove. It's taken them a while to get in shape and in rhythm also.
So when the Warriors are tired, that could be of some concern. The team has made the NBA Finals three years in a row and is trying for a fourth. Everyone in the NBA says how difficult it is just to win games in the NBA, and how much harder it is to make the Finals, let alone win.
While no other team in the league is feeling sorry for the Warriors, the team needs to find a way to grind it out at least until the break. They are going to want to keep building the right habits going into the break so that can carry over into the home stretch of the season.
If they don't, it could have the opposite effect and bounce them from the playoffs earlier than anticipated.
