In the Game 1 win against the Houston Rockets in the Western Conference Finals, Draymond Green finished with five points, nine rebounds, and nine assists. Though subpar numbers, the Golden State Warriors star had a plus/minus rating of +19 — the highest among all players.
For his performance, head coach Steve Kerr was all praises, tagging Green as the “perfect modern-day NBA player.” As posted by NBA TV, Kerr said:
“Draymond is one of the most competitive people on the planet. I thought early in the game, he was so fired up that it just got away from him a little bit. Once he settled in, I thought he was tremendous. His defense was amazing, he controlled the game.
“It's hard to describe what he does, but he's a perfect modern-day NBA player.”

Kerr emphasized that Green is capable of doing almost everything on the court. Though he may not always fill the stat sheet, the intangibles of his game speak volumes and contribute greatly to every win.
By “modern-day,” Kerr is referring to a number of NBA bigs and frontcourt players who have shown much versatility in their play style. Big men of past are limited to rebounding, posting up, and intimidating shots in the paint. Right now, the likes of Anthony Davis or DeMarcus Cousins, can handle the ball and shoot from the outside like a guard, among other things.
Green, for his part, stands at 6'7″ and weighs around 230 lbs. He has ample quickness to stay in front of guards and has the brute strength to push off the bigs in the paint.
The NBA has entered into a different era of basketball. And Green is definitely one of the torchbearers.
