Golden State Warriors' head coach Steve Kerr has always made an effort to speak up and share his thoughts on the political issues. Kerr has been particularly vocal in his criticism of President Donald Trump, and following a Sunday morning tweet directed at four freshman minority Democratic congresswomen, saying they should “go back” to their countries Kerr could not keep silent.

Congresswomen Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez of New York, Ilhan Omar of Minnesota, Rashida Tlaib of Michigan and Ayanna Pressley of Massachusetts were the targets of the president's ire, but of the four, Omar was the only woman to be born outside of the United States. Comming to America after seeking asylum from war in Somalia, which caused her and her family to spend four years in a refugee camp in Kenya, near the Somali border.

While the Washington Post reported that by Sunday night, at least 90 House Democrats and newly independent congressman Justin Amash had denounced Trump’s comments, according to the New York Times, as of Sunday night no White House officials or Republicans in Congress would respond to requests for comment.

Kerr retweeted others who condemned Trump more thoroughly on Sunday, including Adam Serwer, a writer for The Atlantic who called Trump a white nationalist. Kerr also tweeted a picture of the 2018 book “How Democracies Die,” which focuses on Trump’s authoritarian tendencies. “Add this to your summer reading list,” Kerr said in the tweet.

Kerr was born in Beruit, Lebanon. His father, Malcom Kerr, a professor of Middle Eastern studies, was murderd by two gunmen outside his office. The Islamic Jihadists, participants in Lebanon's civil war, took credit for his murder.
This isn't the first time Kerr has taken aim at the president, wearing a “vote for our lives” shirt to advocate for gun control after the mass shooting in Virginia Beach during last year's NBA finals. He and the rest of the Warriors have also refused to meet with Trump after winning the league championship the previous two seasons.
