The NBA offseason is at a standstill with every team shooting their shot for Kevin Durant. Could the Brooklyn Nets star's ex – the Golden State Warriors – be in the best position to force a reunion?

Reports are swirling that the Warriors both have interest and own one of the best packages in a potential trade for Kevin Durant. NBA insider Marc J. Spears spoke out on their interest and also listed down what a Dubs offer could look like:

“Golden State could have the best package for both parties. Jordan Poole, Jonathan Kuminga, All-Star Andrew Wiggins, the former No. 2 pick James Wiseman. What the Nets want is a young All-Star and want perhaps a future All-Star. They’re all under 30. They also want picks, maybe the ability to swap picks. But if you can get those four players, if I’m the Nets, I’m very, very happy.”

However, one huge component in making the deal happen is Andrew Wiggins cannot, at this point in time, get sent to the Nets based on his contract. The same roadblock that would disallow a trade for someone like Bam Adebayo would keep the Warriors from including their playoff breakout star in Wiggins given that he was signed to a rookie max extension and teams cannot have two of those on the same team. Brooklyn already has one in Ben Simmons.

Given that the Warriors are definitely not going to include their core three of Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson, and Draymond Green, matching salaries to accommodate for KD would basically be impossible without the inclusion of Wiggins. A third team would be necessary, but after just winning the title would GSW really be that desperate to make a complicated deal to reunite with their former star?
