Golden State Warriors center James Wiseman will be available to play against the Los Angeles Clippers on Thursday night, assuming he continues to test negative, according to The Athletic's Anthony Slater.

As Slater notes, Wiseman missed a COVID-19 test over the All-Star break, which kept him out of Wednesday's practice.

Warriors head coach Steve Kerr did not hide his disappointment in the talented rookie for missing the test.

“It was a mistake,” Kerr said after the team's practice in Los Angeles on Wednesday. “He just forgot. So it's disappointing because he could have used the practice tonight, and we needed him out there. And so it's disappointing that he made the mistake.”

Kerr clarified that Wiseman did not travel over the break, instead choosing to remain in San Francisco.

The NBA did not ease COVID-19 protocols during the hiatus, other than allowing players to dine outside. Players were still required to get tested every day.

Warriors star Stephen Curry expressed his hope that the 19-year old will learn from his mistake.

“It's what you have to do,” Curry said. “For a rookie to come in, there's obviously a lot of things thrown at you, just in terms of what's happening on the court, but now, obviously, all the protocol stuff and the accountability of the break, but I think we all understand this is our job and we have things to do. When you don't do them, it's put you behind a little bit, so hopefully he won't be out long. I don't know what the situation really is, to be honest.”

Wiseman, the no. 2 overall pick in the 2020 draft, was forced to sit out for most of his first NBA training camp due to COVID-19 protocols, though it was never formally announced whether he tested positive. He also missed about a month of the season due to a wrist injury.

Overall, Wiseman has averaged 11.8 points and 5.9 rebounds in his debut campaign.
