Despite the recent free-agency shakeup after the trade that sent Kristaps Porzingis to the Dallas Mavericks, Klay Thompson has remained intent in doing what he hopes to do: re-sign with the Golden State Warriors. The New York Knicks' recent deal only fanned the flames at a potential Kevin Durant exit, but even if that were to happen, Thompson's plans would not change, according to Mark Medina of The Mercury News.

The long-range sniper had been rumored to be a potential target of the Los Angeles Lakers, shall Anthony Davis not join the squad, yet he'd be happy to remain right where he is as long as the Warriors are willing to shell out the max and nothing less.

Thompson knows his resume speaks for itself, and taking a pay cut again would not help the team acquire another high-caliber player but just save luxury tax money after going well over the salary cap.

Thompson is looking for nothing less than a max contract, having taken a discount on his last deal, which in part allowed the crafting of a superteam in the Bay Area. Just like Thompson, Draymond Green and Durant took pay cuts, as the Warriors made the most of Stephen Curry's four-year, $44 million bargain deal before giving him the supermax in 2017.

If the Warriors make Thompson an honest offer and avoid trying to save bills when it comes to talks, they could sign him outright as a free agent without him entertaining other interested teams.
