With just 2.6 seconds remaining and the game almost wrapped up, Golden State Warriors forward Draymond Green and Cleveland Cavaliers center Tristan Thompson got into a scuffle.

As seen in the video below, after being tossed out of the game, Thompson was walking towards the referee. He was met by a bunch of Golden State Warriors players which included Green — apparently talking some trash to Thompson.

Only two ticks remained in the game. Yet the altercation between the two delayed it further for several minutes. The referees separated the two and did their routine of checking the play again before coming up with the final call.

Green may have won the mini battle. Thompson had no other reprieve but to head to the locker room as Green and the Warriors kept on yapping.

It looked like the altercation was unnecessary. Yet this is what the NBA Finals is all about. Every little second is full of intensity.

It seemed that the trash talking started from Stephen Curry. Right after being blocked by LeBron James, he immediately had some things to say to him. James, for his part, chirped back.

This may have sent signals to the other players to talk smack. It didn't matter if there were just 2.6 seconds remaining on the clock. The game isn't over 'till it's over, as they say.
