Aside from their controversial win in Game 1, the Golden State Warriors managed to avoid quite a scare with the ankle injury to shooting guard Klay Thompson. Although he was able to continue, there was some concern about his status moving forward. Fortunately, Thompson looked like his usual self in Game 2. Even power forward Draymond Green addressed how impressed he was with his teammate's performance, according to Anthony Slater of The Athletic:

“I thought there was no chance he was playing tonight,” Draymond Green said during his postgame press conference. “He came out there and gutted through it. … That’s just a microcosm of who he is. He’s one of the toughest guys, if not the toughest guy I’ve ever played with. And he’ll never get credit for it because he’s not going to physically beat you up, but one of the toughest if not the toughest, for sure.”

There is no question that the injury itself looked serious at the time it occurred. Thompson even got up limping and headed straight to the locker room for further testing. Fortunately, it appears he was able to avoid any serious diagnosis.

Needless to say, he played a major part in Golden State's blowout win in Game 2. Thompson finished with 20 points, two rebounds, and a steal. Although he managed to go 8-of-13 from the field, he missed five of his eight 3-point attempts on the night. Thompson may continue to feel some soreness for the rest of the series. However, it is clear that it will take much more than a sprain to keep him out of action.
