Despite their current struggles, the Memphis Grizzlies have still not made star center Marc Gasol available for trades as the team remains steadfast that they won’t rebuild. Meanwhile, Gasol reportedly won’t request for a trade from the team he’s spent his entire career with.
But according to Yahoo! Sports insider Michael Lee in a recent guest spot on the HoopsHype Podcast, he feels Gasol could eventually be open to a possible trade if the Grizzlies continue to rack up the losses.

They have to do what’s best for the organization and I think Marc Gasol would be very open to go to a situation where he can win, especially if things have already dried up in Memphis.”
At 33 years old, Gasol doesn’t have many years to try and compete for a championship left, so it would make all the sense in the world for him to ask out of Memphis if things continue on their current downward trajectory.
Gasol might actually be doing the franchise a favor by forcing them to the rebuild which they need to undergo. The Grizzlies will eventually have to start over in a few years when Gasol’s play declines further, so they might as well get some assets for him while they still can.
