The Houston Rockets lost yet another game, this time dropping another lead against the Oklahoma City Thunder during a 112-107 defeat on Monday night. This marks the fourth consecutive loss for a team that is out of sorts and out of answers.

Head coach Mike D'Antoni noted as much, pointing to how the misery is just piling up at the midseason point of their 2019-20 campaign:

“Right now, we’re at a period where if something is going to go bad it’s bad, and when it rains it pours and it’s pouring,” said D’Antoni, according to Kelly Iko of The Athletic. “Not just older guys, it’s all of them. Obviously this is disappointing as all of them are disappointing, but we can choose either to fight back, keep your head up — that’s a choice, that’s our choice.

“You can choose to not listen to the noise, you can choose to look at yourself and do better. I’ll do the same, everybody does the same, we’re fine, but if we don’t do that and we start listening or questioning or doing this and that, then we’ll all have problems. I do know their character and I do know that they will take it to heart. We’ll come back on Wednesday and try to play better. When you shoot 9-of-45 — fairly good shots, I mean I’m sure some of them were hoisted up, but … It’s just not good enough.”

The Rockets have banked on their 3s and layups offensive philosophy, but that proved futile on Monday when star shooting guard James Harden went a disastrous 1-of-17 from deep — the sixth time in his career he has missed 16 treys in a single game.

Houston is looking for answers, while Russell Westbrook and D'Antoni hope that staying the course will eventually grant them a win and set out a new starting point to pull out of their rut.
