During the NBA’s Basketball Without Borders campaign next month the league will hold an exhibition game that will feature some of its biggest stars.

However, Rick Bonnell of the Charlotte Observer is reporting that Charlotte Hornets All-Star guard Kemba Walker won't be a participant in the game.

Charlotte Hornets point guard Kemba Walker will not play in an NBA Africa exhibition next month as a precaution following surgery in May on his left knee.

Walker had been named last month as one of the four captains for the game alongside former All-Star big Dirk Nowitzki for Team World while Thabo Sefolosha and Luol Deng will hold those spots for Team Africa. Although he isn't playing in the game, the veteran guard is still expected to travel to Johannesburg, South Africa on Aug. 5.

The 27-year-old underwent minor knee surgery that helped him earn the first All-Star Game selection of his career.

Walker has become the face of the franchise over the last couple of seasons behind his play and leadership on the court. He has developed into one of the top point guards in the Eastern Conference in the process.
