Reports are circulating that the Sacramento Kings are “closely monitoring” the situation with Washington Wizards forward Otto Porter Jr. The Wizards are having a disappointing start to the season, and rumors have it that they are bound to revamp their roster.

Jason Jones of The Athletic wrote about Sacramento's need for a good combo forward and how they are eyeing Porter as a future cornerstone of the team:

Should Washington decide to break up its underperforming team, the Kings would love to be in line to snatch up Porter in a fire sale. The Kings have liked Porter for some time. A contingent from the front office traveled to the East Coast to meet with Porter when he was a restricted free agent in 2017.

Porter opted to sign an offer sheet with Brooklyn instead of the Kings. That four-year, $106 million deal was matched by Washington. The Kings still haven’t filled their need for a small forward since missing out on Porter.

If a deal came to fruition, it could bode well for the stature of Sacramento's front office. Their reported dispute with head coach Dave Joerger has caused drama and clamors from their fans to immediately right the ship. A Porter acquisition could do this trick.

However, it's unclear what the Kings would be willing to give up for the up-and-coming forward. Young players like De'Aaron Fox and Marvin Bagley III are likely untouchables right now, and Buddy Hield, Bogdan Bogdanovic and Willie Cauley-Stein may also garner this tag. Sacramento has a bunch of young players, though, so it has options.
