No one can seem to find a way to stop Kristaps Porzingis at the moment. The New York Knicks star has scored 30 or more points in five of his first six games this season, including a career-high 38 against the Denver Nuggets. And according to ESPN’s Ian Begley, Knicks forward Tim Hardaway Jr. doesn’t think opposing defenses have much chance of doing anything to slow down the Unicorn.
“I mean he's 7-3. What can you do? 7-3, can handle the ball, run the lane like a wing. You can't really – I'm lost for words – you can't really do much. Like I said we'll get the ball to the big man all the time as long as he's producing like this. It was great to watch and be on the floor at the same time he's doing it.”
As the saying goes, you can’t teach height. There are very few players in the league capable of contesting Porzingis' shot, much less block it. You also can’t teach someone as tall as Porzingis how to be that skilled and talented at basketball, which is why he’s such a unique player.
Porzingis is finally getting the opportunity to completely showcase what he’s capable of doing this season and he’s making the most out of it. Defenses can try, but if Porzingis continues to utilize all his physical gifts and plays at this type of level, there's really not much hope for anyone to stop him.
