Over the weekend, All-Star forward Carmelo Anthony saw his tenure with the New York Knicks come to a close after he was traded to the Oklahoma City Thunder.

Despite that, Knicks president Steve Mills has announced that the team will donate $100,000 to Anthony's hurricane relief fund.

This is a tremendous act of kindness from New York to donate to such an important cause to help those affected by the recent hurricanes in Puerto Rico that, as of Monday night, had more than $200,000 raised, slowly but surely nearing its goal of $1 million. It is an honorable act that Anthony has put together to bring in more financial aid to the rebuilding process.

Anthony has a strong connection to the nation that saw him in 2015 bring the soccer team Puerto Rico FC to help reconstruct a basketball court in the San Juan Area. Along with that, Anthony also holds the annual Very Melo Weekend, where his foundation puts together fundraising events throughout the island

The fact that the Knicks are willing to donate that large amount of money to the cause shows their appreciation toward the 33-year-old while also helping out a huge rebuilding effort. This is certainly something that deserves to garner much attention.
