There have been other jersey retirement ceremonies in the past, but the 21 minutes is one of the longest, among those done during halftime of a game. However, with Bryant’s stature, and all the greatness he’s shown throughout his illustrious career, it is both fitting and deserving for him to be given more than enough time to be acknowledged by the sold-out crowd in the arena.
Tickets for Monday night are the most expensive ones for the season, as the five-time champion’s presence alone could change the atmosphere of the entire building. That said, having a once in a lifetime event, the demand for the tickets has grown rapidly after the announcement of the date, which explains why the prices have an average of $685.
