It's roughly six weeks before the start of the season, but anticipation has already been building for this year's season-opener between the Los Angeles Lakers and the L.A. Clippers.

Lakers rookie Lonzo Ball raised the ante for what will be the first official game of his career, knowing the rivalry between these two teams will look very different with both teams boasting very different rosters from last season.

“Gotta see who's going to win L.A.,” the 19-year-old told Serena Winters of Lakers Nation.

The Chino Hills native added that this rivalry had become “even” due to the Clippers' six straight playoff appearances while the Lakers were mired in postseason absences for the past four seasons.

“Over the years, the Clippers definitely stepped it up, and now it’s even,” Ball added shortly after.

While this won't sit well with fans of a franchise that has won 16 championships, the NBA is very much a what-have-you-done-for-me-lately business and one that got former general manager Mitch Kupchak and even part-owner Jim Buss fired from his position.

Ball has been a Lakers fan his whole life, but admittedly has never been to a home game, being witness to some of the least-graceful years the franchise has had to offer. He will have his first tour of the Staples Center on the court, as the floor general in charge of making Los Angeles the Lakers' city once again.
