After seeing him struggle with his shot the past few games, many have been doubting Lonzo Ball if he can live up to expectations in his rookie season. Since his best game so far as a pro during the Los Angeles Lakers’ second match of the season against the Phoenix Suns, the 20-year-old has only scored in double-figures once. He has also been making shots at a very low rate of 29.9 percent, and 23.4 percent from beyond the arc.

His performances have caused some concern to their fans, and even some members of their front office. However, for Magic Johnson, he remains a believer of Ball, and gave him advice recently to help him be more efficient with his shooting. He also tried to motivate him by saying he should keep his head up, according to Serena Winters of Lakers Nation.

Despite his struggles from the field, Ball has made up for it with his rebounding and assists, where he averages, 6.4 and 6.9 per game, respectively. His contributions has helped the Lakers win two straight games, and have climbed back to have a .500 record which they currently own through 10 games.

It remains to be seen what kind of effect Johnson’s advice to the Chino Hills native will have on his game, but knowing that their president of basketball operations, and one of the greatest players ever has not lost faith in him, it will definitely boost his confidence. It could also lead to stronger performances moving forward, which will make him live up to the hype placed on him even before he played his first game in the NBA.
