With the imminent rumors of the San Antonio Spurs “serious interest” in point guard Chris PaulGolden State Warriors consultant and Hall of Famer Jerry West has been one of the L.A. Clippers‘ offseason targets in order to help keep Paul home during this pivotal offseason.

Amid the rumors, Warriors president and general manager, Bob Myers, assured the team would deal with the situation at the end of the season, once the NBA Finals are over — but remains hopeful he'll come back to help the team next season.

“Yeah, I love him. I hope he’s back,” Myers told Tim Kawakami of the San Jose Mercury News. “I’ve known him for 20… way before the Warriors. Most of all, want him to be happy. But we’ll figure all that out when the season’s over.”

Myers said that West wouldn't need any permission to talk to any team in particular.

“Jerry does what Jerry wants to do. Who are we to deny Jerry permission?,” Myers said. “It’s all above-board stuff. Like I said, we’ll deal with all of it when the season’s over. It’s not fair to talk about it–I don’t think he wants it to be discussed now, either, so I’m going to honor that”
