Right now, Patrick Beverley is having another noteworthy season with the Minnesota Timberwolves. After joining the team last summer, the 33-year-old veteran has found a home with his new squad. It's almost hard to imagine that this time last year, Pat Bev was doing Pat Bev things with the Los Angeles Clippers.
Beverley had a few things to say about his exit from LA last summer, though. In a recent episode of JJ Redick's The Old Man & the Three podcast, the 6-foot-1 combo guard threw a bit of shade at the Clippers as he opened up about the failed contract negotiations that took place:
“We in the Western Conference Finals, something the team has never done,” Beverley said (h/t Darryn Albert of Larry Brown Sports). “Me being there from the beginning, I’m thinking that this contract extension, I’m thinking it’s going to be easy. I walk in and they throw me a number that I felt was borderline disrespectful.”
Last summer, instead of extending his deal, the Clippers ended up sending Beverley to the Memphis Grizzlies in exchange for Eric Bledsoe. It sounds like LA tabled a low-ball offer to Beverley to extend his stay with the Clippers, which the veteran clearly did not appreciate. True enough, Beverley ended up packing his bags not long after.

He eventually landed with the Timberwolves, where he has since been a key cog for the squad. Minnesota recently rewarded him with a one-year extension worth $13 million that will see him extend his tenure with the team through at least the 2022-23 season. As he said, “life's good” for him at the moment.
Beverley spent four years with the Clippers and he was definitely part of that team's identity. All good things must come to an end, though, and it is only unfortunate that his parting of ways with his former team did not come on the best of terms. Be that as it may, LA fans will continue to have fond memories of Pat Bev's time with the Clippers.
