The latest rumblings on Los Angeles Clippers star Paul George's injury, a torn UCL in his right elbow, aren't entirely optimistic.

According to ESPN insider Brian Windhorst during a recent episode of his The Hoop Collective podcast, the worst-case scenario for Paul George and the Clippers is still on the table

Via Rob Goldberg of Bleacher Report:

“It's almost like I'm waiting for bad news on Paul George because they just, you know—it sounds like surgery is a real option there, and if he has that, he's done for the year,” Windhorst said.

Not great. This, however, comes off the recent optimism expressed by Clippers veteran Nic Batum, who gave an unofficial timeline wherein he hoped to see both his superstar teammates back in action.

“Yes, we hope after All-Star break or beginning of March, they return,” Nicolas Batum said. “Before going on the trip Tuesday morning I went to get my COVID test alone, and I saw Kawhi sweating, training. So I don’t know if it will be this year or what. I don’t know, but I hope.” If we get them in the next six weeks, we can play in playoffs. We have a base around the two players who are a good level.”

Of course, Batum's projection could just be more wishful thinking rather than any actual update on the status of either Paul George or Kawhi Leonard.

Injuries have come to define the Los Angeles Clippers' season thus far. Expectations were tempered heading into the year already with the uncertainty of Kawhi Leonard's return. Now with George facing the same level of uncertainty, LAC continues to play in perpetual limbo.
