The trade talks are now “serious” with Lou Williams as part of the return package, per Shams Charania.
The Hawks are in serious talks on Rajon Rondo to the Clippers for a Lou Williams package, sources tell me and @sam_amick. Williams could land in Atlanta or a third team.

The Clippers had a lengthy pursuit of Rondo during free agency. But the two-time NBA champion ultimately signed a two-year, $15 million contract with the Hawks.
It is the kind of move that probably makes sense for both sides.

Rondo has hardly played any sort of role in Atlanta. He dealt with injuries early in the season and is averaging just over 14 minutes in 27 appearances. The Hawks might also be keen on dumping some salary especially if they elect to keep John Collins, who will be a restricted free agent this summer.
But while Rondo has played a minimal role in Atlanta, he could be an asset in L.A. The Clippers desperately need a point guard type capable of being an assist man who can operate in the half-court and get out in transition.
Ideally, the Clippers might try to go after Lonzo Ball. They have reportedly expressed interest in the New Orleans Pelicans point guard.
However, the Pelicans could well hope to nab strong draft capital or attach a bad salary–like Eric Bledsoe or Steven Adams–to the deal. The Clippers do not have a ton of capital and certainly cannot afford to take on dead weight in contracts.
Rondo might be the kind of inexpensive playmaker L.A. needs in the backcourt.
