During his media session on Saturday, Denver Nuggets head coach Michael Malone talked about why the Los Angeles Clippers are the “greatest” test his team has faced so far.

The Nuggets are down 3-2 to the Clippers in the second round of the 2020 playoffs. Denver saved its season in Game 5 behind stellar performances from Nikola Jokic, Jamal Murray and Paul Millsap.

“The Clippers are a different animal in terms of they’re the championship favorites, they have veterans, they’re big, they’re physical, so this is really the greatest test that we have faced so far,” Michael Malone said, via Andrew Grief of the Los Angeles Times.

The Clippers have terrific depth at each position and two of the best overall players in the game in Kawhi Leonard and Paul George. The Nuggets should be commended for not giving up in Game 5 after falling down by double-digits and fighting until the end.

Since Denver erased a 3-1 series deficit in the first round against the Utah Jazz, they have confidence that they can do it again against the Clippers.

However, as Malone mentioned, this is a different animal the Nuggets are dealing with, as Leonard is a two-time Finals MVP and a killer when it comes to closing out a series. The superstar looked a little frustrated during his postgame press conference in Game 5, so Denver has to be mindful of an angry Leonard coming out in Game 6.
