The trade deadline is routinely one of the busiest moments of each NBA season, but one name has dominated the headlines this year.

Anthony Davis and his camp may have made this happen as part of a calculated move to put pressure on the Los Angeles Lakers, according to Steve Bulpett of the Boston Herald, in which a league GM revealed to him their thoughts on the matter:

“I think Paul and LeBron want to get this done now, because they’re afraid of Boston getting him [Davis] later on. I think they’re trying to push Magic [Johnson] and them to bid by putting it out there that there are other teams Davis likes.”

It has been no secret that Davis would like to be traded to the Los Angeles Lakers above all else, and people close to him haven’t been shy about outing the Celtics as a team he would like to avoid ending up playing for.

However, the power is still in the hands of the New Orleans Pelicans ultimately and they could send him to whatever team they feel could give them the best package in return.

Many people around the league believe that to be the Boston Celtics.

With the possibility of Boston including Jayson Tatum, another young player, and multiple picks in an offseason proposition for A.D., finding a way to get a deal done before the deadline is in the best interest of Davis and his camp.

His recent list of four teams he would like to be traded to included the Lakers along with three other teams in the Bucks, Clippers, or Knicks, who wouldn’t be able to match the offer the Lakers could bring to the table for the Pelicans.

The league will find out by Thursday when the deadline rolls around if these moves have worked out in Anthony Davis’ favor or he is still along for the ride as New Orleans drags out this saga until the summer.
