Niki Withers, USC volleyball star and Russell's ex-girlfriend, tweeted ‘LOL' almost immediately after news of the Los Angeles Lakers opting to trade him to the Brooklyn Nets in exchange for center Brook Lopez and the 27th pick in Thursday night's draft.

The Lakers now near another consequent trade, aggressively looking for a package to send the Indiana Pacers in return for star forward Paul George.

Russell's departure reportedly would make room for the arrival of Lonzo Ball, which points to be the desired selection of the organization with the No. 2 overall pick in the 2017 NBA Draft.
