The Los Angeles Lakers dropped 136 points in a 23-point win over the Portland Trail Blazers on Friday night, their highest total in a regulation game since 1990.

Anthony Davis led the way with 39 points while LeBron James added 31.

Believe it or not, only two other Lakers players ended up in double figures, with Kyle Kuzma scoring 15 off the bench and JaVale McGee chipping in 13, but when Davis and James combine for 70, that type of thing will happen.

It was just the latest impressive performance for a Los Angeles team that is now tied for an NBA-best 20-3 record on the season, with the Milwaukee Bucks sporting the same mark.

The first month-and-a-half of the 2019-20 campaign has obviously been a breath of fresh air for Lakers fans, as LA is coming off of a season in which it won just 37 games and has not made the playoffs since 2013.

The Lakers signed James during the summer of 2018, which appeared to be the start of something special in Hollywood, but Los Angeles was unable to land any other stars to play alongside of LeBron in his first year.

Not only that, but James missed over a month between December and January of last season due to a groin injury, and the pieces LA had simply did not mesh.

As a result, the Lakers were all but out of the playoff race by February.

Los Angeles then swung a blockbuster deal with the New Orleans Pelicans for Davis last June and added some more pieces during the summer.
