With the basketball world wondering when the Los Angeles Lakers are going to peak, sports analyst Colin Cowherd would call out superstar Luka Doncic for the reason why. While Lakers head coach JJ Reddick has taken responsibility for some of the problems on the team, Cowherd would blame Doncic in a myriad of areas, including the chemistry with LeBron James.
So far this season, Doncic has been averaging a league-high 32.8 points, 8.5 assists, and 7.7 rebounds per game while shooting 47.1 percent from the field and 35.5 percent from beyond the arc. Cowherd would still say on his show, “The Herd,” that Los Angeles trading for Doncic is “still not working out that week,” further saying how his “athleticism is regressing.”
“We’re a year into the Luka trade. It’s still not working out that well. It can’t take this long,” Cowherd said. “It’s not on 41 year old LeBron to make it work. It’s on Luka to make it work. And two things can be true: the Lakers stole him from the Mavs. It was a great trade. And secondly, he is aging quickly. The numbers don't lie. He gets four times more technicals now than dunks.”
“His athleticism is regressing,” Cowherd continued. “People used to say, well, he's Larry Bird. No Bird made all defense three times. Larry Bird made every teammate he ever played with better. We're a year into Luca and the Lakers. It's not really working yet. How long can it take? Everybody plays well with LeBron, Austin Reeves is not a ball hog. He's a hard worker. He's a shot creator. You can't work with that for free.”

At any rate, the Lakers are 34-22, which puts them fifth in the Western Conference as the team's next game is on Tuesday night against the Orlando Magic.
