The Dallas Mavericks and Nerlens Noel have had a love/hate relationship and it has seemed to have more hate at times, but at this juncture, it appears Noel is at least going to stick around on the roster.
According to Marc Stein of the New York Times:
“The Mavericks have no current plans to buy out big man Nerlens Noel, according to league sources. To the contrary, Dallas is hopeful it can get Noel back on the floor after the All-Star break and make another run at establishing a role for him.”
The problem between the Mavs and Noel started, according to ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski in a tweet from last year, when he turned down a $70 million dollar offer from Dallas.

Nerlens Noel clearly betting on himself with acceptance of $4.1M QO. He turned down 4-year, $70M Mavs offer made on July 1, sources say.
Instead, Noel is making 4.1 million dollars this year, and who knows what kind of market he will have next year after the performance he has shown.
On the season, he has only appeared in 18 games. In those games, Noel is averaging 12.5 minutes and four points. Right now, he is recovering from a right thumb surgery but there is a good chance he will get back in the rotation after the All-Star Break if he is healthy.
After being one of the top high school players, Noel went to Kentucky where he stayed for only one year. He was drafted with the sixth pick in the 2013 draft by the New Orleans Pelicans but was traded on draft night to the Philadelphia 76ers. Injuries and a reported lack of effort have led to his downward spiral in the NBA.
