Dallas Mavericks center Nerlens Noel hasn’t played in any of his team’s last four games, but he got some attention last Saturday during halftime of a 108-82 win over the L.A. Clippers when he stopped by the media center and coolly grabbed a hotdog. Again, it was in the media center, so Noel won’t get past this one without anyone noticing.

It’s not unusual for humans to go hungry, but not a few people found Noel’s halftime hotdog escapade weird since we usually think that basketball players spend most of the halftime break by listening to their coach expound the team’s gameplan in the dugout and not by loading up on calories.

Mavericks head coach Rick Carlisle, however, didn’t see any problem about that.

When Noel was speaking with reporters Sunday about the incident, Carlisle butted in and even joked about planning to talk to a hotdog place to see if it could add a Nerlens Noel-inspired hotdog on its menu.

“So look, I'm representing him. I'm going to talk to Wild About Harry's over on Knox It's a hot dog place. And we're going to see if they'll do ‘The Nerlens,' which is relish only, right? Relish or nothing at all.”

On a side note, this isn’t the first time that a hotdog and a professional athlete grabbed headlines together, however. Back in 2009, Mark Sanchez literally ate one on the sidelines.

Noel maybe in Carlisle’s doghouse, but the big man should feel a little bit better if indeed a hotdog would be named after him.
